About VetDose

"How much Benadryl can I give my 40-lb dog?" gets asked thousands of times a night, and the answers live in popup-covered blog posts with no sources. VetDose does one thing instead: it shows the published veterinary reference range for your pet's exact weight, with the source named on every single dose.

Where the numbers come from

Every entry in our dataset carries its source. If we can't cite it, we don't show it. Toxicity thresholds (chocolate, xylitol, ibuprofen) come from the same published literature.

Data status: our dose dataset is currently in draft pending independent review by a licensed veterinarian (DVM). Ranges shown are as published by the sources above.

What VetDose is not

VetDose is a reference tool, like a drug handbook. It does not prescribe, diagnose, or treat. It does not replace your veterinarian, who knows your pet's health conditions, other medications, and history. Every dose screen says it and we mean it: always confirm with your veterinarian.

Emergencies

If your pet ate something dangerous, our toxicity calculators give instant published-threshold context, and the real answer is always a call: Pet Poison Helpline 855-764-7661 or ASPCA Poison Control 888-426-4435, both staffed 24/7 by veterinary toxicologists.
