Amoxicillin is used in dogs, but dosing decisions belong to your veterinarian. Vets prescribe amoxicillin, but the product, strength, and course length are infection-specific. Leftover human pills are usually the wrong strength and an incomplete course, which breeds resistant bacteria. Some human products pair it with clavulanate at ratios meant for people.
